PREPARING FOR AN IMPORTANT TEST

It always seems impossible until it’s done.

And, it truly did seem impossible to me, at first. My final exams for social science. I didn’t like the subject at all, but I had to get good marks to pass my 9th, didn’t I? I still remember. I walked up to my reference book and looked at the syllabus. I stared at it, for what felt like half an hour. There were chapters I had neither seen nor understood, much less understand. So many dates, events, names,.... too overwhelming. It just wouldn’t stick in my mind. If I have to say, I felt like I had already lost before I even started. And, you might ask, what was the challenge in all this mess? It was doubt and a mountain of chapters that I had not even touched.

But, I can say something very confidently, something as challenging as this wasn’t really something that would stop my heart from going on. So, it’s something hard for me to believe, but for once, I had to agree with something my mother said to me. Breaking topics into small steps. Breakdown complex concepts to simple sentences. I must have watched a 100 YouTube videos, until my mind finally gave up, and said that it was impossible. I just couldn’t keep up. I ensured I got enough breaks and sleep, and a lot of meditation so I wouldn’t panic. It helped.

And then on the day of the examination, I went cool headed, thinking if fate wants me to pass, I would pass, so I went with the flow. Not something I recommend, but what can I say?

And when I got my results, I had done better than I had expected. I thought I would be getting something around 55 out of 80 marks. I got 69 marks. I felt overjoyed, that I was able to do something good in my life. Now that I look back at that situation, it shows that you should know when your exams and tests are before a few weeks from the exams. And plus, we should try to create a time table, so we are on the right track and don’t run off the rail track. And, I would like to say that these challenges are just opportunities in disguise. Hovering over you, ready to show you your true strength and preparation.

So to anyone preparing for a big test – you’ve got this. And remember, it’s not the end of the world. Organize your time and follow it strictly and believe in yourself, and then I can proudly say, that you can do it.

Thank you.
