EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Ou might have seen many people having their phones at all times. Have you wondered what they are always doing? Are they talking? Are they sharing about their life? If you think like this, then maybe you are like me, a total stranger to social media. But, almost every person, let it be an excited child or a tired old person, has used social media in this era. It is something that can be used to talk with others, or admire others’ lives or something to gather information. Even though it has so many good features to offer, there is always a bad side to everything. And social media has the same case.

Even though we can do so many good things, like be informed about everything, or look at what people are doing, some people also use it for bad things like discrimination, like how in X, formerly known as Twitter, some group people started a trend of putting a tag of ‘ WHAT’S WRONG WITH INDIA?’ and showing all the bad stuff about India, and it became viral, by reaching to mostly everyone in the world. But, of course, we are smart people, and we used it to our advantage to show the beautiful things, too. But, it's not just discrimination, but also the day-to-day effects, such as depression, anxiety, which are also created by social media.

As millions of teenagers have started to use social media, some use it to bully others by posting several embarrassing pictures, making them look bad. And due to this, some victims may also have had the intent to die, thinking, Why should I live if I was made to be bullied? And despite being designed to connect people, excessive use of social media can lead to feelings of loneliness and social isolation and make them disconnected from real-life interactions and relationships.

So, why not take a time to just log off and try to improve our live without meaningless motivational videos which give a short amount of boost, and useless inspirational quotes which creates a second of inspiration. Let’s have a change for once in our lives.
